A method for executing a menu using a speed key and a mobile terminal using the same are provided to allow a user to accurately and quickly select a desired menu by using a speed key. A program memory(302) stores a speed key designating program in which a menu corresponding to a speed key is designated. A key input unit(304) includes the speed key including a cancel key and a combination key selected by a user. An LCD display unit(306) displays a speed key select mode. When the user selectively inputs the menu using the speed key, the LCD display unit(306) displays the menu designated for the speed key. A speed key storage unit(308) stores speed key designation information including the designated menu corresponding to the speed key. When a microprocessor(310) receives a selection of the speed key from the user and receives a selection of the menu corresponding to the speed key, it designates the menu corresponding to the speed key and stores the speed key designation information in the speed key storage unit(308).
