There are provided an information processing device and method capable of effectively performing content download and content transmission. When downloading a content, a content identifier of a downloaded content is acquired so that a content to be transmitted is identified for an external device according to the content identifier and a content is acquired from a data storage unit so that the acquired content is transmitted to the external device or write is executed onto an information recording medium. With this configuration, it is possible to execute the content download, transmission to the external device, and data write to an information recording medium such as a CD as series of processes, thereby effectively performing download and content transmission or write process.
