The machine has a casing (C) inside which a rotor (2) is placed, and reversible toroidal transmission systems (A, B), each with variable transmission ratio to connect the machine to a heat engine. The systems form toroidal speed variators, and have grooves (21A, 21B, 31A, 31B) carried by the rotor, where the grooves are carried by side plates (3A, 3B). The side plates are integrated in rotation on a shaft (5). An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle comprising a rotating machine.
