A method for automatically setting a language in a TV/DVD combo system is provided to automatically set up a subtitle language and an environment setup language in playing a DVD title by setting a language of a DVD player based on a language basically set in a television, thereby conveniently playing back the DVD title without selecting a language. A language of a television is set up(S10). When a DVD title is played back after setting up the language of the television, a basically set language of the DVD title is compared with the set language of the television(S20,S30). If the basically set language of the DVD title is identical to the set language of the television, the DVD title is played back in the set language(S30,S50). If the basically set language of the DVD title is not identical to the set language of the television, the DVD title play language of a DVD player is changed into the set language of the television(S30,S40). The DVD title is played back in the changed play language of the DVD title(S50).
