An apparatus and a method for inspecting power life of a television are provided to inspect power life of a television by alternately turning on and off power supplied to the television and counting on and off frequencies of power, thereby improving the quality of a television and reducing the time required for inspection. An electronic switch(22) is turned on and off to apply and cut off power supplied to a TV set. A driving relay(23) is switched to set on and off operation of the electronic switch. A timer(29) checks switching operation of the driving relay. A counter(27) counts frequency that power is applied or cut off by on and off operation of the electronic switch. An operation unit(24) is formed for operation of a user. A display unit(26) displays an inspection result and an operation progress situation. A control unit(25) preliminarily sets up a power-on time and a power-off time, and reference data related to operation frequency through the operation unit. The control unit controls operation of the driving relay through the timer to maintain the electronic switch in an on state or an off state for preliminarily the set power-on time or the set power-off time. The control unit receives the counted operation frequency from the counter for judging whether the operation frequency coincides with reference frequency of the reference data to inspect power life of the TV set.
