The sensor has an envelope delimiting a functional volume, and a light excitation source e.g. diode laser, integrated within the volume. The laser is supplied by an energy source e.g. lithium-ion battery. A control unit for controlling the laser is provided within the volume. An optical unit conveys a target beam to a sample to be analyzed and is movable to vary the direction of the target beam. The position of the optical unit is selected by moving a control button (6) towards one of its positions. An independent claim is also included for a spectrometer integrating a sensor.
