A lens actuating device and an image pickup apparatus are provided to be driven to an accurate lens position by initializing a lens position by moving the lens to a reference position per a predetermined period. In a lens actuating device, a driving unit(5a,5b) drives a pair of lenses(2a,2b). A detection unit(3) detects a reference position of the lenses. And, an initial control unit initializes the positions of the lenses by moving the lenses to the reference position to be detected by the detection unit at a predetermined time period. |
