#CMT# #/CMT# The device has a stable position sensor (54) and a float (40) which moves vertically between high and low positions in which a level of a lubricating oil (14) contained in an oil sump (12) of an internal combustion engine is maximum and minimum, respectively. The float is mounted in an oil inlet duct (28) to form a blocking valve when it is in the high position and to allow a passage for the oil when it is in the low position. A duct emerges in the sump below the oil level corresponding to the high position and extends opposite and above the level corresponding to the high position. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Used for adjusting a lubricating oil level in an oil sump of an internal combustion engine (claimed) e.g. diesel engine, functioning in self-ignition, in a motor vehicle. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The cooperation of the float and the oil inlet duct permits the float to form a blocking valve when the float is in the high position and to allow the passage for the oil when the float is in the low position in order to adjust the oil level in the sump to a constant oil level in an automatic manner.
