摘要 #CMT# #/CMT# The system has a central electronic control unit receiving information on a detected pedestrian from a pedestrian`s path prediction unit and information on a motor vehicle and a vehicle driver`s behavior from a vehicle`s path detection unit. The control unit delivers the prediction information of an eventual vehicle/pedestrian impact to counter-measure systems which are triggered successively based on their respective thresholds. The prediction information includes the time before impact, an impact zone and an impact probability. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a motor vehicle and pedestrian impact predicting method implemented by a motor vehicle and pedestrian impact predicting system. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Used in a motor vehicle for predicting an impact between the vehicle and a pedestrian (claimed) for protecting the pedestrian from an accident. #CMT#ADVANTAGE : #/CMT# The triggering of the counter-measure systems based on their respective thresholds permits the system to detect and locate pedestrians present among other obstacles around a motor vehicle, enables a change of the displacement of the pedestrians relative to the vehicle, and associates them with a probability of impact with the vehicle, an estimation of the time before impact and the impact zone. The protection of the pedestrians is hence ensured. The system is hence autonomous, has improved performance, and does not necessitate interactions with other systems on other motor vehicles, pedestrians and/or other infrastructure. The system prepares protection systems well in advance to shorten the triggering time to gain response time, reduces the gravity of the impact while triggering emergency braking, and attempts collision avoidance.
