A honeycomb structured body is provided to highly disperse catalytic components, and to increase a non-surface area of the honeycomb structured body. A honeycomb structured body(10) comprises a plurality of cylindrical honeycomb structured units(30) connected through a sealing layer(14). The honeycomb structured unit is formed by a plurality of cells arranged in parallel with each other in a lengthwise direction, with a cell wall interposed between cells. The honeycomb structured unit includes inorganic particles, inorganic fiber and/or whisker. The cross section area at the cross section vertical to the longitudinal direction of the honeycomb structured unit is 5 to 50 cm^2. The honeycomb structured unit has both ends in which areas of 0.3 to 5% of the length of the honeycomb structured body is sealing layer free regions(17). |
