PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To temporarily stop projection of an unnecessary image without imposing a burden on a user. SOLUTION: A projecting system connects a personal computer (PC)1 which outputs image data and a data projector device 2 which performs projection display based on input image data. In the projecting system, the PC1 transmits signals instructing the cancellation and setting of an image mute at timing becoming a specific operating state (T02 to T04, T05 to T07), and the data projector device 2 temporarily stops image projection display according to an instruction signal transmitted from the PC1 (R02 to R07).
