PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-reliability magnetron capable of exerting a stable getter effect over a long time by firmly holding a getter material at an optimum temperature point for exerting the getter effect. SOLUTION: In welding and jointing an upper end hat 21a to a center lead 28, a part of a central through-hole 30 of the upper end hat 21a is left unwelded. Heat is conducted to a sleeve-like getter material 29 installed on the center lead 28 through the center lead 28 by heating the upper end hat 21a with high frequency to melt the sleeve-like getter material 29, and the getter material 29 is expanded to the surface of the upper end hat 21a by using, as a path, the through-hole 30 of the upper end hat 21a partially left unwelded through a space between the center lead 28 and the upper end hat 21a, and is alloyed with the material of the upper end hat 21a, whereby the getter material is firmly fixed and held.
