The method involves selecting a color spot from a memory, and representing the spot on a display of an image reproduction device. The spots of a color card and the display are detected by color card and display sensors (5, 6). The distance of the sensors from the card corresponds to the distance of the sensors from the display while detecting the spots. The detected spot of the display is adapted to the detected spot of the color card. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for calibrating color spots of a color card in a display of a image reproduction device (2) an image reproduction device with a device for calibrating color spots of a color card in a display.
