<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a combustion synthesis method for obtaining an oxide-based ceramic, capable of efficiently removing gases or sublimates as by-products from the inside of a main product when performing a combustion synthesis reaction and thus reducing the influence exerted from a reactor or the like, and also to provide the oxide-based ceramic obtained by the method. <P>SOLUTION: This combustion synthesis method generating gases or sublimates as by-products comprises a raw material preparation process for housing the mixture of a plurality of materials as elemental sources composing a main product in a reactor and an ignition process for igniting and reacting the mixture in the reactor.
