<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device and its control method that make luminance corrections and color corrections without making a viewer recognize a decrease in luminance or color reproducibility of the whole image. <P>SOLUTION: The image display device of the present invention is equipped with: liquid crystal light valves 822, 823, and 824 (display means) that display images; a scene change detecting circuit 11 (scene change detecting means) which detects scene change; a correction decision circuit 12 (luminance correction decision means) which decides the extent of luminance corrections of an image according to the detection result, and a correcting circuit 13 (luminance correcting means) which sets a luminance correction value to zero or a small value on a side where change of a scene is large and to a large value on a side where the change of the scene is small, according to the decision result and performs luminance correction processing for an image signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
