<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform speed control which does not give any sense of incompatibility to a crew when the preceding vehicle follow-up control of an ACC is switched to speed control corresponding to a road shape in a system for controlling the travel of an automobile according to the road shape. <P>SOLUTION: A first target speed is calculated according to an inter-vehicle distance between an own vehicle and a preceding vehicle ahead of the own vehicle, and a second target speed is calculated according to road information, and when a first control mode for controlling the speed of the own vehicle according to the first target speed is switched to a second control mode for controlling the speed of the own vehicle according to the second target speed, the speed of the own vehicle is controlled so that the accelerated speed of the own vehicle can be set within a predetermined range. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p> |
