<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce defects due to the warpage of a brake pad. <P>SOLUTION: This brake pad 14 comprises a friction material 20 having a pressure-contact face 20a press-fitted to the frictional sliding surface of a disk rotor 18 and braking the rotation of the disk rotor 18 and a pad lining 22 joined to the face of the friction material 20 on the opposite side of the pressure-contact face 20a. The pad lining 22 comprises a projected part 22a projected from the side face of the friction material 20, having an end face 22c abutting on a mounting part 12 on which the brake pad 14 is disposed, and restraining the movement of the brake pad 14. A groove part 34 is formed in the projected part 22a in the extending direction of the end face 22c.
