PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound capable of stabilizing a blue phase and providing a liquid crystal composition for OCB (optically compensated bend) mode having stable bend state by addition of the compound. SOLUTION: The T type compound is represented by general formula of chemical formula 1 (wherein A to F are each an ether, an ester or a linking group such as single bond; X, Y and Z have each a hard structure called as a core and e.g. each composed of benzene, pyridine, cyclohexane or the like in which a part of the hydrogen atoms may be substituted with a halogen atom such as fluorine; R1 to R4 are each an alkyl group or an alkoxy group; carbon having the symbol * represents an asymmetric carbon).
