PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conductive member that can uniformly charge the surface of an image carrier by maintaining a stable gap between the image carrier and the conductive member, even if the conductive member is used initially and over a long period. SOLUTION: The conductive member 1 has the conductive base 1, the electrical resistance adjusting layer 3 formed on the conductive base 1, and gap-holding members 5, 6 which are formed at both ends of the electrical resistance adjusting layer 3 abutting against the image carrier in such a manner that the electric resistance adjusting layer 3 and the image carrier maintain the specified gap, in which the electric resistance adjusting layer 3 is fixed by an adhesive 2 to the conductive base 1. The adhesive 2 is preferably a conductive adhesive containing conductive particles selected from gold, silver, nickel, and carbon. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
