PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To construct a color printer of a quaternary tandem in which a printing position deviation of four color planes in a sub-scanning direction is prevented, and also a redundant counter is eliminated at an interface where only one vertical synchronizing signal/TOP is sent to a controller from an engine in the color printer. SOLUTION: The color printer outputs videos by counting an added value of a sub-scanning writing position correction value and a top margin value from a paper head on the basis of the vertical synchronizing signal/TOP. Two line counters 108 and 109 are equipped for the plane where the vertical synchronizing signal/TOP of the next page comes before video data is output.
