PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multifunctional telephone set that initializes only specified partial system data without interrupting the operation of the multifunctional telephone set. SOLUTION: System data 6a<SB>1</SB>, 6a<SB>2</SB>, ..., 6a<SB>n</SB>defining operation modes of one service item or a plurality of service items are stored in a data memory 6 by extension telephone sets 201, 202, ..., and system data initial values of the respective service items and initializing programs which initialize system data in the data memory 6, are stored in system folders 5a<SB>1</SB>, 5a<SB>2</SB>, ..., 5a<SB>n</SB>in a ROM 5 which are subdivided by the service items. In response to a special number operation from a service button 23c of one of the extension telephone sets and/or from a ten-key 22, a service item is selected from a selection menu picture displayed at a display section 21 with menu selection decision buttons 23e and 23f, the initializing program in the system folder corresponding to the service item is read from the ROM 5 to initialize only the corresponding system data.
