A semi-transmissive LCD is provided to suppress the variation of white color tone in a reflective mode and minimize the reduction of reflectance, by disposing columnar spacers only in pixels having green color filters and disposing a light shielding part only in the vicinity of locations where the columnar spacers are formed. A first substrate includes a light shielding layer(34) and color filters(32R,32G,32B) for respective pixels. A second substrate includes a transparent pixel electrode for a transmissive region(T) within each pixel, a reflective pixel electrode for a reflective region(S) within each pixel, and wires(22,63) for supplying signals to the transmissive and reflective pixel electrodes. A liquid crystal layer is interposed between the first and second substrates. Columnar spacers(33) are disposed only in the pixels having green color filters. A light shielding part(36) is disposed only in the vicinity of locations where the columnar spacers are formed.
