The method involves allocating an operating address to an illuminant operating device e.g. electronic ballast, through a data bus. An identification instruction is transmitted through the data bus and the operating device. A bus address of a bus subscriber in the operating device is optically and/or acoustically rendered in a coded form by the operating device using light emitting diodes (6, 7), which are provided to the illuminant. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) an electronic control unit for a bus subscriber such as operating device which is designed for supporting a method of determining bus address of a subscriber in an illuminating bus system (2) a bus subscriber such as operating device for illuminant which is designed to support a method of determining bus address of a subscriber in an illuminating bus system (3) utilization of a light emitting diode of a bus subscriber such as illuminant operating device for coding rendition of a bus address of a bus subscriber. |
