PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operation knob device which can prevent the ball of a detent mechanism from falling into a concave portion formed in a knob, by making a width of the concave portion narrow, in which the knob is rotatably fitted into a shaft, as well as, a stator is fitted in a rotation lock state, a convex or concave portion is formed in the knob or the stator, respectively so as to fit each other, and erroneous assembling is prevented by fitting between the convex and concave portions. SOLUTION: In this operation knob device, a concave portion 18 formed in a knob 6 is formed communicating with a fitting hole 20, and a convex portion 17 formed in a stator 7 is formed so that its one side face is flush with the inner face of a fitting hole 21. As a result, for absorbing molding errors, it is sufficient that the width the concave portion 18 be extended to only the outer circumferential side. Thus, the width of the concave portion 18 can be narrowed, and the ball of a detent mechanism can be prevented from falling into the concave portion 18, even if it falls when being assembled.
