The claimed metal hydride reservoir in the form of a pressure vessel (1) has at least one gas pipe (7) for supplying or discharging gaseous hydrogen and at least one inner container (2) which is arranged in its inner chamber (3) and contains a hydrogen storage material. The metal hydride reservoir is characterised in that at least one inner container (2) comprises two parts interconnected by a gas-permeable filtering medium in such a way that hydrogen but not the hydrogen storage material can flow from the inner container into the inner chamber of the metal hydride reservoir and vice-versa.
