Occupant restraint system has at least one second airbag (11) having an inner space (11.1) which can be filled with the fluid medium and is spatially separated from the first airbag (1) or has a group of second airbags, which collectively have inner space which can be filled with fluid medium and are separated spatially from the first airbag or the group of first airbags. An inflation device (2) is connected with the inner space of the second airbag or the group of second airbags by a fluid medium bearing channel (13). The inflation device and fluid medium bearing channel are in such a manner arranged that in accordance with the operation of the inflation device, the airbag is always inflated accurately or the groups of the airbags are inflated accurately by supplying fluid medium from the inflation device through the fluid medium bearing channel in its inner space or in their inner spaces.
