<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a program retrieval support system having a function of enabling a user to identify a person projected at that moment when reproducing images recorded by a terminal on the user side to view and listen to them. <P>SOLUTION: When the person desired by the user appears, a static image is displayed, and the face of the person to be retrieved is selected from the static image. The contour of a selected face, the position of eyes, and the like are then acquired to form feature point data. The date and time that the image being reproduced is broadcasted, is obtained from a reproduction elapsed time and the recording start time and date. The broadcasted time and date, channel frequency and feature point data of the retrieved image are transmitted to a server. When there is a response of retrieval completion from the server and it is determined that there is the person corresponding to the feature point data, the name of an entertainer is displayed on a screen.
