SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR RECEIVING OPTICAL SIGNAL AND OPTICAL RECEIVING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for receiving an optical signal and an optical receiving apparatus in which the occurrence of a fault from a beam splitting spot to an optical receiving spot can be efficiently and accurately detected for each optical receiving means in the case of splitting an optically amplified signal beam to a plurality of ports and distributing the split beams to a plurality of optical receiving means.

SOLUTION: The present invention relates to an optical signal receiving system including an optical amplification means 1 for amplifying a signal beam to a predetermined level, a beam splitting means 2 for splitting the amplified signal beam and a plurality of optical receiving means 3 each for receiving the split signal beam. Each of the plurality of optical receiving means 3 comprises a monitoring light source 32 emitting monitoring light, and the monitoring light is detected by a monitoring light detection device 35 to detect a fault to occur after the beam splitting means. The monitoring light detection device 35 is disposed at a side of the beam splitting means 2 and detects the monitoring light extracted from each of a plurality of split beam lines 24. The monitoring light is modulated with a carrier wave of a frequency different from that of the signal beam or is made into wavelength different from that of the signal beam.
