<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a near-field light emitting element and an optical head easy to manufacture and capable of emitting a high intensity near-field light with a high light utilizing efficiency. <P>SOLUTION: Laser beams emitted from a near-field light generating section 3 are converged to an aperture 9 of metal film 10, which is arranged on a lower surface 2a of a floating slider 2. By the laser beams converged to this aperture 9, a surface plasmon is excited on first and second surfaces 10a, 10b of the metal film 10, and this surface plasmon is reflected by a peripheral part 11 and converged to the aperture 9, then the near-field light 12 which is emitted from the aperture 9 by mutual operation between the laser beam and the plasmon in a neighborhood of the aperture 9, is remarkably reinforced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
