<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems of a decrease in the response of equipment and a decrease in successive photographing speed/number of successive photographing frames since coding must be tried by the number of a plurality of coding parameters held by a storage means and hence processing time per image data becomes long. <P>SOLUTION: Coding processing is made by selecting the same coding parameter continuously when the free space of a memory that can be used for performing the loss-less compression processing of image data is equal to or higher than a threshold.
