PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic encoder of superior abrasion resistance and productivity, for detection of rotation or the like in a bearing for a wheel. SOLUTION: This magnetic encoder 10 is provided with a metal annular member 11, and a magnetic member 14, provided along a circumferential direction of a surface of the annular member 11. The magnetic member 14 is made of a thermosetting resin, mixed with a magnetic fine particle. The magnetic member 14 is circumferentially magnetized in a multipolar manner, to form magnetic poles N, S alternately.
