PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to reproduce desired information even in the state of an icon, to check the content of the file, and to open the file if necessary, when a file under control is retrieved. SOLUTION: Information for simple reproduction for easily reproducing a desired part in a control object file is stored as a retrieval attribute file described in a prescribed structured format. Then retrieval item key information is inputted so as to retrieve the retrieval attribute file which coincides with the retrieval item key. The coincident retrieval attribute file is displayed as an icon image based on icon image information of the file. When the user right-clicks the desired icon (S302), the simple reproduction information in the applicable retrieval attribute file is reproduced (S304).
