PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid developer excellent in fixing property of toner particles on a recording medium and not harmful to the environment. SOLUTION: The liquid developer contains the toner particles dispersed in an insulating liquid, wherein the insulating liquid contains an oleic acid component and a saturated fatty acid component. The content X [mol%] of the oleic acid component in the insulating liquid and the content Y [mol%] of the saturated fatty acid component in the insulating liquid preferably satisfy a relationship of 0.5≤X/Y≤50. It is preferable that the insulating liquid consists mainly of an ester of glycerol and the oleic acid component and the saturated fatty acid component. The liquid developer preferably contains an antioxidant. The preferred content of the antioxidant is 0.01-15 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. of the insulating liquid.
