PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical module where a temperature rise of an optical element due to wraparound of heat can be suppressed. SOLUTION: A package 2 of an optical transmission module 1 is provided with a stem 3, and a cap 4 fixed to the stem 3. The stem 3 has a metallic base 5, and metallic lead pins 6A to 6D are fixed to the base 5. The lead pins 6A to 6C are fixed to the base 5 by insulating materials 7 in a state where they penetrate through holes formed in the base 5. A seat 8 projected to the tip side of the cap 4 is arranged on the upper face 5b of the base 5, and an LD chip 10 is mounted on the seat 8. A plane-like component mounting part 18 is disposed at the tip of the lead pin 6C, and a driving electronic component 19 driving the LD chip 10 is mounted on the component mounting part 18.
