PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder which can prevent a change of application conditions caused by change in properties by suppressing evaporation of a processing liquid, and which can prevent overflow of the processing liquid from an application means in the recorder equipped with the application means that applies the processing liquid for image quality improvement prior to recording to a recording medium. SOLUTION: The application means 50 comprises an application roller 52 pivotally supported inside a processing liquid reservoir 54, and a press contacting roller 53 pressed into contact with the application roller. The application means 50 transfers the processing liquid 21 in the processing liquid reservoir to the application roller and also applies the transferred processing liquid to the recording medium. An opening and closing door 29 is set which is driven to stick to and separate from the periphery of an opening part 55 formed on a top face of the processing liquid reservoir 54.
