The seal (51) comprises a clamping body (52) with sealing lip . The clamping body which can be made with a steel reinforcement mesh has a U-shaped cross section with two outward extending arms (53,54) of which at least the inside face has clamping elements. The seal is made partially from a relatively solid plastics and partially from a softer plastics of high elasticity. The distance between the arms is measured so that they can be pushed onto a thin sheet metal or plastics part of the roof element.
