A vacuum cleaner for wet cleaning is provided to simplify the structure of the vacuum cleaner by opening or shutting a foreign matter suction passage by front and rear shutoff members without lifting up and down a brush, and to reduce cleaning time by simultaneously sucking foreign matters and wiping a floor. A vacuum cleaner includes: a body(10); a brush assembly having a foreign matter suction port opposed to a cleaned surface and communicated with the body, a brush(61) rotatably contacted to the cleaned surface, and installed in the foreign matter suction port, and a water discharge nozzle(74) for discharging water; and front and rear shutoff members(40,50) formed in a lower part of the brush assembly and contacted to the cleaned surface around the brush to selectively open or close a foreign matter suction passage. The foreign matter suction passage is opened by the front shutoff member or the rear shutoff member, and closed by the rear shutoff member or the front shutoff member. The front shutoff member opens the foreign matter suction passage in moving the brush assembly forward.
