PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication system for displaying the fact of transfer setting to the user of a telephone, and to provide a method of controlling the communication system. SOLUTION: A CPU 24 of an SIP server 22 performs transfer setting to IP telephones 19, 20 separate from an IP telephone 10 to the dispatch to the IP telephone 10, and the fact of the transfer setting is displayed on a display panel 18 of the IP telephone 10.
