PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new material hardly causing problems in toxicity and ecotoxicity while being equally suitable as a conventional plasticizer in a dispersion containing much acrylate. SOLUTION: The preparation for a hard surface, preferably for polishing and treating floor contains an ester of a polycarboxylic acid and a monoalcohol, or an ester of a monocarboxylic acid and a polyol. In a specific embodiment, the preparation can contain a polymeric (meth)acrylic acid (ester) and/or a styrene-(meth)acrylic acid (ester) copolymer, and if necessary, additionally, a polyethylene wax dispersion besides them.
