A toothed belt (8) designed to co-operate with a drive pulley (6) and a driven pulley (7) of a synchronous drive (5) connected to a camshaft (4) subjected to a periodic loading torque (C) and further comprising a transmission element (9), the toothed belt (8) comprising: a body (12) made of elastomeric material having on its periphery a back (15a) designed to co-operate with the transmission element (9); a plurality of teeth (13) spaced at equal distances apart and extending in relief with respect to the body (12) on the side opposite to the back (15a); and a plurality of filiform reinforcement elements or cords (14) embedded in the body (12). In particular, the back (15a) of the toothed belt (8) is delimited by an undulated surface (15).
