A method for forming an alignment layer of an LCD is provided to remove use no additive mask for separating alignment patterns, thereby effectively performing the manufacturing process, by patterning the alignment patterns and pixel electrodes using the same mask. A gate electrode(110a) is formed on a substrate(100). A gate insulating layer(160) is formed to cover the gate electrode and the substrate. A semiconductor pattern(170) is formed on the gate insulating layer correspondingly to the gate electrode. A thin film transistor is formed by forming source and drain electrodes(120a,120b) on the semiconductor pattern. A transparent conductive layer and an inorganic layer are sequentially deposited on the resultant substrate, and then pattern-etched using the same mask to form a pixel electrode(140) and an alignment layer(190) on the pixel electrode. |
