<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve both improvement of fuel consumption and improvement of exhaust emission in an engine equipped with a high-pressure fuel pump. <P>SOLUTION: An engine control device of the invention, when the engine rotates by inertia after being stopped, temporarily continues driving the high-pressure fuel pump and raises fuel pressure. Fuel injection control is therefore started in a condition that the fuel pressure is high to some extent in next engine starting. This makes a fuel spray condition by fuel injection good and the exhaust emission is improved. There is no need for spraying extra fuel because of the raising of the fuel pressure and the fuel consumption can be improved. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
