PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily make design changes at low cost for preventing a rise in the flow rate of refrigerant and reducing refrigerant loss. SOLUTION: This heat exchanger 1 is provided with a core part 4 where a plurality of tubes 2a, 2b are aligned, and header tanks 6, 7 formed with hollow spaces communicated with the inner flow passages of the tubes 2a, 2b. Windward passages 41, 43 and leeward passages 42, 44 are formed in the respective hollow spaces using partition plates 20a, 20b. The refrigerant is caused to flow in from the leeward passage 42, is either distributed to or collected from the tubes 2a, 2b, and is thereby forced out of the windward passage 43. The partition plates 20a, 20b are provided with respective protruding parts 25, 26 that protrude to the leeward side. The cross sections of the windward passages 41, 43 in areas where the protruding parts 25, 26 are provided are formed to be greater than the cross sections of the leeward passages 42, 44.
