The method involves determining an optimized transmission parameter relative to a type of transmission service for two types of transmission services, and using the parameter corresponding to the service for data transmission. Transmission quality is monitored during transmission of data, and a new determination of the parameters is initiated according to the requirement of fulfilling criteria based on the monitoring of the quality. The parameter is changed according to the requirement of the type of the service and /or the quality of the service. An independent claim is also included for a device arranged for implementing a link adaptation.
