USE OF INTERFERON-ALPHA IN ORDER TO OBTAIN A COMPOUND FOR THE TREATMENT OF OPTICAL NEUROMYELITIS

The invention relates to the use of interferon-alpha in order to obtain a pharmaceutical compound for the treatment of neuromyelitis optica (NMO) or Devic's syndrome. Interferon-alpha (IFN a) can be used as a treatment for NMO in both the monophase form and the relapsing form. In addition, IFN a can be combined with other growth factors such as recombinant erythropoietin (rEPO), thereby increasing the rationale behind its use in relation to said disease.
