PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light guide element used in combination with a spatial light modulating device and capable of reducing light loss in the part of connection with the spatial light modulating device, and to provide others.

SOLUTION: The light guide element 110 for supplying light to the modulating section 122 of the spatial light modulating device 120 that modulates light according to an image signal includes: a hollow rod integrator 102 that is a light guide section used to guide light from the incident-side end to the emission-side end; and a connecting section formed so as to come into contact with the incident face of the modulating section 122, thereby connecting the spatial light modulating device 120 and the hollow rod integrator 102.
