PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable the recognition of a newly constructed road within a guidance route retrieved by a service center on the side of a vehicle-mounted apparatus even when vehicle-side road map data has not been newly updated. SOLUTION: In the service center, a guidance route to a destination is retrieved through the use of road map data of a road map database to extract guidance points, compute the distances and/or travel times between the guidance points, and transmit them to the vehicle side. In the vehicle-mounted navigation system, a guidance route to the destination passing the guidance points is retrieved through the use of road map data of a vehicle-side map storage means to compute the distances and/or travel times between the guidance points on the retrieved guidance route, compare them with the distances and/or travel times between guidance points computed at the service center, and retrieve sections in which the guidance route retrieved on the vehicle side is mismatched with the guidance route retrieved at the service center.
