PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens barrel driving mechanism which can be thinned further. SOLUTION: The lens barrel driving mechanism 1 is equipped with: a shutter unit 8 provided inside a lens barrel 10 and having a shutter blade 83 opening/closing or stopping down an exposure aperture part; a second lens frame 3 arranged in the rear inside the shutter unit 8 and holding a second lens group 31; and a driving source 86 driving the second lens frame 3 and the shutter unit 8 to withdraw/extend in an optical axis direction. The second lens frame 3 is made to freely move from a position where it is arranged in an optical path to a position where it retreats to the outside of the optical path behind the shutter unit 8 with withdrawing operation. Then, a recessed part 81a is formed on a surface to be opposed to the second lens group 31 moving with the withdrawing operation in the shutter unit 8, and a part of the second lens group 31 retreating to the outside of the optical path behind the shutter unit 8 is housed in the recessed part 81a.
