PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect various types of sheets, in a sheet sensor detecting the sheet carried along a sheet carrying passage, a sheet carrying device having the sheet sensor, and an image forming apparatus having the sheet carrying device. SOLUTION: In the sheet sensors SN1, SN2, a register roller Rr curves the carried sheet S by temporally stopping a front end of the sheet S, and carries the sheet S to the downstream in a sheet carrying direction after correcting the tilt of the sheet S. A curved carrying passage SH1b disposed upstream of the register roller Rr, and curved to be projected downward is arranged on a projection face side of the sheet S which is carried in a curved state. The sheet sensors SN1, SN2 detect sheet detecting light radiated on the sheet S carried in the curved carrying passage SH1b, and has light receiving parts 2, 7, 8 supported by sensor support members SN1b, SN2a.
