PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an absorbent article which transfers a viscous excreted liquid such as a liquid in loose stools quickly and reliably to an absorber. SOLUTION: The absorbent article comprises: a surface sheet 1 which faces a skin and enables permeation of the excreted liquid; a permeable sheet 2 through which the excreted liquid permeates; and an absorbent element 3 which is located on the reverse side of the permeable sheet 2 and holds the excreted liquid in this order. The absorbent element 3 comprises the absorber 3B containing superabsorbent polymer particles and elements 3A, 3C wrapping the absorber 3B. In the elements 3A, 3C for wrapping the absorber 3B, a region 3A located between the absorber 3B and the permeable sheet 2 is constituted of an air-through nonwoven fabric.
